Japio is designed from the ground up as a zero-data-collection, offline-first digital Japa counter and spiritual habit tracker.

Our commitment to user privacy is total and absolute: We do not harvest, track, sell, or transmit any personal data or sensitive user data.

2. Data Collection & Handling Disclosures

Zero Personal Data Collection Policy

The application strictly adheres to the principle of privacy by design:

  • No User Account Required: You do not need to register, log in, or provide your name, email address, phone number, or social media credentials.
  • No Location Data: The application does not request, track, or access your precise or approximate physical location (GPS or IP location).
  • No Financial Data: Japio is 100% free with no in-app purchases or payment processing.
  • No Device Identifiers: We do not fetch or record Advertising IDs, Android IDs, IMEI, MAC addresses, or SIM serial numbers.
  • No Audio or Camera Access: The app does not record microphone audio or capture photos/videos.

3. Local Storage & Offline Infrastructure

All data generated during your usage of Japio—including chant counts, completed mala records, daily streak statistics, custom deity path entries, dark/light theme choices, and reminder schedules—is stored exclusively and locally on your physical device using standard operating system sandboxing (HTML5 LocalStorage / IndexedDB).

We do not operate, connect to, or transmit data to remote servers, databases, cloud APIs, or external storage infrastructure.

4. Data Retention & Data Deletion Policy (Mandatory Google Play Disclosure)

In accordance with Google Play User Data policies, users have complete ownership and control over their data retention and deletion:

How to Delete Your Data

  • In-App Immediate Deletion: You can purge all stored chanting counts, streak histories, and settings directly inside the application by navigating to Settings > Reset App Data.
  • Operating System Clear Storage: You can instantly wipe all local data at any time via Android System Settings: Settings > Apps > Japio > Storage > Clear Storage / Clear Data.
  • Application Uninstallation: Uninstalling the Japio app from your device automatically and permanently deletes all sandboxed local storage files created by the application.

5. Third-Party Services, SDKs & Analytics Disclosure

Japio does not integrate any third-party SDKs, analytics frameworks, crash reporting tools, or advertising networks. Specifically:

  • No Ad Networks: We do not use Google AdMob, Unity Ads, Meta Audience Network, or any other ad providers.
  • No Analytics SDKs: We do not use Google Analytics for Firebase, Mixpanel, Amplitude, or Flurry.
  • No Tracking Cookies: The app contains no third-party cookies or telemetry beacons.
  • Zero Data Sharing: We do not share, sell, lease, or transfer any user data to third parties.

6. Device Permissions

Japio requests only one optional permission:

  • POST_NOTIFICATIONS (Android 13+): Requested solely if you choose to enable the optional Daily Reminders feature. Notifications are scheduled and fired locally on your device via the operating system's native alarm manager without using remote push notification servers. You can grant or revoke this permission at any time in system settings.

7. Children's Privacy (COPPA & GDPR-K Compliance)

Japio is suitable for users of all ages, including children under the age of 13 (and under 16 in the EU). Because Japio collects zero personal information from any user, it fully complies with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR-K) requirements.

8. Global Privacy Rights (GDPR / CCPA / CPRA)

Under international privacy regulations (including EU GDPR and California CCPA/CPRA), users possess rights regarding data access, portability, and erasure. Since all your data resides entirely on your device under your direct control, you exercise 100% of these rights directly through your device controls.
